The history of the Projeto Portal's founder is intimately linked to the noble metal. While he was a bricklayer's mate in a São Paulo town, Urandir Fernandes de Oliveira dreamed about wealth and had plans of being a prospector. When he became friend of a fish salesman, called Ernani Garcia of Lima, who often went to Mato Grosso do Sul State in order to take the fish to supply markets from São Paulo, Urandir glimpsed the possibility to install in the ladscapes that he just met. As he sustains he didn't have any kind of dream towards setting up a community to contact extraterrestrials, or this sort of thing in the State, but finding gold and therefore turning rich. Nothing more natural.

His settlement in the property that now belongs to himself happened according to the very same desire that moved thousands of Brazilians towards Serra Pelada Mountain. In those lands where the Projeto Portal is, there's gold, since that Urandir got eight permits of the National Department of Mineral Production (DNPM) to explore it. They are licenses with numbers - 7.931 to 7.939 - emitted on February 08, 2000, that give him one period of three years to find the metal. This information was annouced in the Official Diary of the Union, of February 11, 2000. It is not known if he's made his project, but his relationship with gold doesn't stop thereabout and there are other versions still more curious.

For instance, Urandir has been giving lectures all over Brazil alleging to be capable to materialize the metal starting from nothing. Taking them in his courses for demonstrations, he makes small nuggets of gold leaving out from the audience heads, foreheads and napes. Everyone get amazed, but everything is nothing but of one of the simplest tricks that is learned in the art of the prestidigitation, of which Urandir was more than apprentice when he looked for fish with Ernani, his partner in the project until the present. On that occasion, they use to make magic shows, entertaining friends and other people with deck of cards tricks, perfumes, coins and stones that appeared from nothing. More recently, he realizing that the gold argument was even more convincing and attractive, he started to boast that soon the terrestrial money won't be valuable anymore, being substituted then by some kind of "gilded money."

Nothing more convenient than a coin like that which finds no barriers at all, for its circulation. But, of course, such happening will take place to the members of Projeto Portal's - and, nevertheless, just when there is a holocaust that the human existence will conclude the existence upon Earth. Urandir says for his closer speakers that in the underground of the area where he will build where he calls City of ETs, there is a lot of gold and diamonds for all.
That would explain a lot of things...
