On June 26, 2001, Jonathan Reed, accompanied by devotee Dan Iaria, Dan McEvoy, and Robert Raith (aka Robert Aria) appeared on Mexico's most popular primetime television talk show "Otro Rollo." The show hosted more so-called witnesses (all with their faces hidden) that claimed to know Reed and verified his story.

The appearance of these UFO clowns on Otro Rollo was nothing that hasn't been seen here in the United States, other than the possibility of them being able to gain exposure to millions of people in Latin America. It was the usual pre$entation: Reed's video, Iaria claiming to have investigated Reed's background, Raith talking about the book and helping Reed along with the story, more bad acting from Reed. But this time there was a bit of a twist.
Mexico's best known UFO investigator Jaime Maussan appeared on stage with Reed and his group and endorsed the story. Many UFOlogists are having a difficult time understanding why Maussan would risk his credibility and the credibility of UFOlogy by lending credence to this obvious hoax. This isn't the first time Maussan's credibility has been called into question.
Maussan, best known for covering the UFO flap in Mexico, allegedly told several investigators that he had radar tapes from Mexico City's airport that clearly shows UFOs caught on radar. When asked for these tapes by other UFOlogist, Maussan reportedly failed to provide the tapes.
Maussan is probably best known for promoting the Mexico City daylight UFO video which was later shown to be a hoax. Maussan was reported as still standing by the video because he had interviewed witnesses that said they saw the craft. These witnesses came forward after the video was shown on television...
Among one of the claims made on the program was that the Link Artifact was stored in a container that could only be opened with a digital code. It was also claimed that the container storing the artifact was a nitrogen container. Why nitrogen? Reed was asked by several viewers and audience members to demonstrate how the link artifact worked. Of course, Reed already had his excuse in line saying that he couldn't use it due to some kind of fungus growth on the phoney device and that was the reason for the nitrogen storage. Reed can't effectively demonstrate the powers or properties of the device for one good reason: its a fake.

JUST THE FACTS
To simplify this con, presented here are the facts in this case that Reed, Iaria and the rest of these people don't want you to know about. By the way, Jaime Maussan and his producer know about these facts and have not presented them to the people of Latin America:
~ Jonathan Reed never has been a doctor of any kind. Reed does not have a Ph.D. in psychology, has never worked as a psychologist at the University of Washington, has never worked at Johns Hopkins University, never attended UCLA and has not been on the run from any government agents. In fact, he has lived in Seattle, Washington the entire time. Reed's publisher, Pam McCloud, has been reported to be Reed's girlfriend and it has also been alleged that the two have been living together for some time.
~ Jonathan Reed claimed that the government has completely erased his identity. However, Reed has a post office box in Seattle under his name. Reed also has a bank account in Seattle that he uses to cash checks for the sale of his books. This bank account is in his name. Both the post office and the bank that Reed uses are within a few blocks of each other in west Seattle and are near a gas station that both Robert Raith (aka Robert Aria) and Harold Chacon are employed at as clerks.
~ Robert Raith's real name is Robert Aria. Aria is not a professional writer and was, until recently, employed as a clerk at a gas station working the night shift for at least the last 5 years. Aria claimed to not be interested in UFOs or Art Bell until he met Jonathan Reed. People that know Aria, whose nickname is "Bobby", have stated that Aria has been a longtime Art Bell fan and always talked about writing a book about aliens and other dimensions. Aria and Reed have been friends and Reed's former business manager, Christine Fine, is friends with and was at one time neighbors with Robert Aria. Reed, Aria and Fine all live in Seattle and know each other. Several people involved with UFOs in Seattle saw Raith working at this gas station in his employee uniform. These people went to confront him and he avoided them by leaving through a backdoor, probably fearful of being exposed as a fraud.
~ "Dr." Harold Chacon is not a doctor and has never attended the Catholic University of Puerto Rico as he has claimed. Chacon claimed to have a degree in microbiology from the Catholic University of Puerto Rico but that university doesn't offer any such degree. Chacon isn't a scientist and does not have a Master's Degree or Ph.D of any kind. In fact, Chacon is a clerk at the very same gas station in Seattle that Robert Raith/Aria worked at. Both are lying about this case and Chacon was recruited to lie about this hoax. Chacon claimed to have performed testing on alien tissue and blood that he obtained from Reed. This is just another in a long line of lies being perpetrated by those involved in this blatant hoax.
~ Reed claims that he and a friend talked directly to Peter Davenport of the National UFO Reporting Center in Seattle in October of 1996 about Reed's bogus alien. This is completely false as Davenport wasn't even in the United States during this time period and has stated so.
~ The film that Reed and Iaria claimed several times were "the original negatives" from Reed's alleged UFO encounter have been shown to be fraudulent. Reed claimed the photos were taken in October of 1996 yet the film made by Kodak was shown not to be available until January and February of 1997 - three to four months after he claims to have taken the photos. Iaria is now claiming that the photos are copies of slides but a well known film expert has stated his opinion that this is not the case. Until this issue was raised publicly by UFOWATCHDOG.COM, Reed and Aria were adamant that the negatives were the originals and have made public statements to that effect.

~ Reed claimed to have been shot in a botched kidnap attempt on him. During his appearance at the IUFOC in Nevada, Reed was approached by researchers Do.Roger Leir and Lloyd Pye. The two researchers asked to inspect Reed's scar and Reed was reported to have run from the two.
~ Reed and others involved in this scam have disgraced the memories of two people that have passed away. Reed and Aria are claiming that two researchers from the University of Washington were killed for their alleged involvement in analyzing blood and tissue from Reed's fake alien. Reed has chosen to drag the names of these men through the mud in an effort to lend further credibility to his con. The two people Reed claims were killed in connection with his so-called encounter have absolutely no connection to Reed. Iaria goes so far as to state that the late Dr.Carl Sagan himself was involved with this. How convenient for Reed and Iaria that none of these people are alive today to refute their nonsense.
~ A special effects expert has stated that Reed's alien is made of rubber. Photos of Reed's alien also show a straight pin and what appears to be a button on the clothing of the alien. There also appears to be an 'x' marking a spot where the bogus alien's head wound is located. It is also interesting to note that in video Reed claims to have taken of a UFO, that the UFO never moves and is stationary throughout the video.
Reed and his cohorts want to sell this scam to people based on emotion and not proof. Iaria makes it clear that he wants emotion to reign in all of this and not evidence, "We need emotion to make this happen...", says Iaria. Start asking for proof and you'll only receive excuses from these shameless hucksters trying to pass off a lie while trying desperately to reach into your wallet and take your cash. Reed has been made too many honest offers in having his evidence evaluated and he continues to fail to provide any actual truth to back his story. Why? Because he's lying and he knows it. Reed and his cohorts have been caught in far too many lies and will continue to get caught so long as people demand proof instead of words.
UFOWATCHDOG.COM and several others have directly challenged Reed on a number of occasions and Reed has never accepted any challenge including a one-million dollar challenge that was made to him when his story first came out. Don't let these con men take you for a ride...
