During one of part of the "examination", Rutter
takes the creature's head and turns it in an attempt to deceive the viewer
into thinking the alien is real. As Rutter turns the head of the alien,
the head does moves - but so does the entire neck along with the head.
This clearly shows that this is a one-piece sculpt and not a living creature
of any kind.
ABOVE: 'A' represents the starting point with outlining dots
surround what is supposed to be a vein in the aliens neck. This is where
Rutter beings to move the head.
ABOVE: 'A' represents the starting point where the vein was when
the head was first shown before being turned. 'B' shows us where the vein
is at now. Note the curve of the dots - 'A' is in the same position, but
the entire vein moves with the head.
ABOVE: 'A' was the starting point. 'C' shows us where the vein
is at now. You can also look at other reference points on the head and see
that they too move as the head is turned.
ABOVE: 'A' is the point the straight vein was at. 'D' now shows
how the vein is rotating with the neck.
ABOVE: 'A' was where the vein started. 'E' shows the vein line
rotating with the neck as Rutter turns it.
ABOVE: 'A' is the starting place where the vein originally was.
Looking at 'F', you can see continue to see how the straight lined vein
has rotated from the neck. Look at other reference points that continue
to also move in unison with the neck.
ABOVE: 'A' is the starting point. 'G' shows how far the vein
has rotated in unison with the neck.
While watching the video segment, you can also note that
nothing else on the "alien" moves - not the clothing, the shoulders,
nothing else moves. The only thing that moves in unison is the head and
the neck. When Rutter moves the head around, you'll also notice that it
moves clumsily and very easily and appears to be very light - as one would
expect with a prop. And this isn't the only prop they used...
