Fingerpointing, Excuses Fail To Flush Facts Of Frivilous Lawsuit
Some Continue To Propel Myths and Gossip Surrounding
Morton's Loss In Court, UFOWATCHDOG.COM Sets The Record Straight...Again
Since April 2003, when UFOWATCHDOG.COM prevailed
in court after so-called spiritual remote viewer Sean David Morton miserably failed
to sue this website and its editor, there have
been a number of rumors floating around as to the reason why Morton did
not prevail on the merits of his lawsuit. These excuses, both from Morton
and a few of his zealous followers, have ranged from Morton not meeting
filing deadlines to the courts being in error.
Sean David Morton failed to provide evidence to support
any of the claims he made in court against this website and its editor.
Period. Not once during the court proceedings did Morton submit a single
shred of evidence, not one piece of evidence was introduced in court by
Morton to support his claims. There were no errors made by the courts, there
were no filing deadlines missed, there were no obscure laws used to win
the case...it simply came down to this website standing by what it has published
as being true and this website being able to prove it.
The following is a summary of what took place in court:
1) Morton filed his lawsuit.
2) UFOWATCHDOG.COM responded by filing an anti-SLAPP
motion challenging Morton to provide proof of his claims by providing the
court with evidence.
3) Morton was afforded several opportunities to provide
evidence to the courts and is only required to demonstrate that he has a
chance of prevailing on the merits of his lawsuit. This means Morton simply
had to prove that UFOWATCHDOG.COM made a single false statement about
him and/or his claims.
4) Morton utterly fails to provide a shred of proof to
support any of his claims. To put this in perspective, Morton claimed that
his "graduate work includes earning a Doctorate in Theology."
If Morton had a degree in Theology, then all he would have to do would be
to provide the court a copy of his degree or an official transcript showing
that he did indeed earn such a degree. Please read The
Shameless Psychic And His Prophecy Of Lies, look through Morton's claims
and then ask yourself how you would prove them in court... if they wre true.
After that, then ask yourself why Morton couldn't prove any of these claims
in court.
5) Morton was ordered to pay $16,000 for UFOWATCHDOG.COM's
attorney fees.
6) Morton appealed the decision, his appeal was dismissed.
UFOWATCHDOG.COM invites anyone
to research this case. The case was filed in Los
Angeles Superior Court and the case number is YC045367. The facts speak
for themselves and are on record with the courts in California for anyone
to review. The extensive ruling published by the court clearly states that
Morton could not provide any proof of his claims. This website and its editor
stands by what it published.
There is one core point that people who want to cry foul
either miss or don't want to acknowledge: Morton initiated the lawsuit and
provided himself with an opportunity to provide clear and convincing evidence
of his claims. The rest is history and on record with the courts in California.
With that, presented here is Sean David Morton in his own
words...
" [UFOWATCHDOG.COM] used the excuse that the internet
was a public forum and he could say anything he wanted and the court in
error of LAW, fell for it. Not ONCE did he ever use the TRUTH as a defense,
because he CAN'T! "
--Sean David Morton, August 23, 2003. This website stood what
it published from day one and did so in a sworn declaration to the courts.
" Sorry you have problems. I don't have the time
or the strength to argue with you. Your time line is off. I appreciate your
research and diligence. "
--Sean David Morton in an e-mail to Star Trek biographer David
Alexander after Alexander told Morton he was full of it regarding his claims
of having worked for the late Gene Roddenberry.
" These words, statements, and articles published by
defendants on www.ufowatchdog.com are slanderous per se because they tend
to injure [Morton] in his profession and business by imputing to him the
trait of dishonesty, which has a natural tendency to lessen the credibility
of [Morton] as an author, lecturer, and talk show radio host and affect
and lessen the profits of plaintiff's business and occupation. As an approximate
result of the above-described publications, plaintiff has suffered loss
of his reputation, shame, mortification, and hurt feelings all to his general
damage in the sum of one million dollars..."
--Article 33 and 34 (lines 10 to 18) of Sean David Morton's
original court complaint against this website. Just exactly what kind of
a salary scale are we talking here for a self-proclaimed psychic/prophet?
A million bucks? Wait...isn't Morton's organization supposed to be non-profit?
"Plus,
as many of you know, there are some very, VERY dark and evil people out
there in "Internet Land" who have spared no rotten lick or dirty
trick to smear, slander and liable me...Every accusation they have made
has been refuted over and over again, but they just keep at it, to the point
of the absurd."
-- Sean David Morton, in an April 22, 2002 message to his
e-list one year before Morton lost a libel suit against UFOWATCHDOG.COM
after Morton was challenged to present his evidence to refute claims made
against him. Morton has yet to refute anything or provide any proof.
"...it seems that all anybody wants to know about
is SEX and MONEY. "Where is my HONEY and where is my MONEY? When is
I gettin LAID and when is I gettin PAID?" Nobody wants
to hear that with the Law of Universal Resonance (Like attracting Like)
that if you improve YOURSELF and your VIBRATION that you get "LAID
more and PAID more!" "
--Words of wisdom from Sean David Morton
" By the way, WatchPig originally claimed that the
woman you met was an ACTRESS I had hired and that the whole incident was
a fake! When that didn't work, they have taken to IMPERSONATING ME on the
internet, and apparently talking SMACK about Dawn, claiming it was ME, in
order to destroy our relationship. This is how LOW this guy will stoop!
No big surprise!"
--Sean David Morton in an e-mail to someone inquiring about
his background after his lawsuit was dismissed. Any claims that this webiste
or anyone affiliated with it is impersonating Morton are completely unfounded.
And really, no one could impersonate Morton and we have serious doubts that
anyone ever would want to. The 'WatchPig' part is in reference to this website.
The Dawn reference is about Dawn Roddenberry, the daughter of Gene Roddenberry,
she also refuted Morton's claims of having worked on Star Trek for the late
Gene Roddenberry.
" He has done much to earn the nick-name which he
is known by in the Paranormal Field of "UFO WATCH-PIG.SWINE."
"
--Sean David Morton in an e-mail where he also says that "calling
people names...does NOTHING to further an agenda
of knowledge, research or expanded horizons." By the
way, you can see that Morton really practices what he preaches and often
refers to this website as 'ufo watchpig'. Morton appears to think that name
calling is the same thing as proving your claims...
"Myers won the first round unfortunatly and I am
appealing. He used the excuse that the internet was a public forum and he
could say anything he wanted and the court in error of LAW, fell for it.
Not ONCE did he ever use the TRUTH as a defense, because he CAN'T!
--Sean David Morton in an e-mail alleging why he lost his
lawsuit against UFOWATCHDOG.COM.
" Our complaint against [ufowatchdog.com] is 125 pages long. People
DO have the first amendment right to beassholes and morons. If this jerk
wants to call me names, he can. PresentingLIES as FACTS is a crime, but
it all depends on what judge you get and how they interpret the 1st Amendment.
"
--Sean David Morton in an e-mail. The actual complaint was
only 11 pages in length. Oh, and someone should tell Morton that libel isn't
a "crime." It's actually called a "tort" and is handled
in civil court, not criminal court, and it didn't come down to anyone interpreting
anything. It came down to UFOWATCHDOG.COM providing proof of its
claims and Morton not providing any proof of his. By the way, if lying was
a crime, then a certain self-proclaimed prophet would be spending a lot
of time in jail...
" A little war is good for the soul. Gets the juices
flowing. "
--Sean David Morton in an e-mail referring to the possibility
that he might not win the lawsuit. Wait - aren't monks supposed to be peaceful?
" A little war is good for the hormones. Gets the
juices flowing. "
--Sean David Morton in a different e-mail talking about juices
flowing...
" I know from personal inside sources, that a group
of 30 men were arrested with camera equipment in a building near the WTC,
who were filming the planes as they crashed into the towers, and that they
were agents of the Mossad. "
--Sean David Morton referencing more alleged 'inside sources'
for his insight into the 9/11 attacks...we'd ask for proof but that appears
to be an area that Morton has many shortcomings in...
" I have called it LIKE IT IS and have the track
record to back it up! "
--Sean David Morton claiming to have some sort of established
track record for making predictions...
" The school yard bully tactics of calling people
names, and screaming "DID NOT!" and attacking people in a community
where few have the time, resources or wherewithall to defend themselves,
does NOTHING to further an agenda of knowledge, research or expanded horizons.
It just brings everybody ELSE down to his level and makes us ALL look stupid
to the world at large. "
--Sean David Morton in a letter where he makes false allegations
pertaining to your UFOWATCHDOG.COM editor. And really, Morton doesn't
need any help with looking stupid - he does just fine on his own.
" I HAVE refuted this crap, but [ufowatchdog.com]
is never going to post it. "
--Sean David Morton, August 28,2003. Morton has been invited
numerous times to submit his evidence and it will be posted here, when and
if it is received. Morton has not refuted any of the claims on this website
and he most certainly couldn't refute it in court.
" Last, the actions I am now going to take are going
to wreck his nasty little world but that is another story. "
--Sena David Morton in an e-mail alleging what he's going
to do next to UFOWATCHDOG.COM
" It is all on appeal, which I will win. "
--Sean David Morton, in an e-mail stating he would win an
appeal against UFOWATCHDOG.COM. The appeal was dismissed.
