Like a bad itch or rash, just when you thought it was gone it comes back. It appears that John Bradley Rutter (aka "Dr.Jonathan Reed") isn't going away any time soon either. A recent post at his 'official' website, from webmaster Cole Larson, claims that this tall tale of an alien encounter is real. The following is what appears at the Odyssey Link website:
Recent allegations have come to light that Jonathan created a false identity. I have received communications this week from Jonathan admitting that he, indeed, created a false identity - Dr. Jonathan Reed. He asserts that he did so in an effort to protect family and friends from the ridicule and harassment associated with cases of this nature. He further asserts that, despite claims to the contrary, the encounter did, in fact, happen.
After a great deal of deliberation, I have decided to temporarily keep the OdysseyLink site intact (with some minor exceptions *) instead of taking it down while we get the whole story for the following substantive reasons;
1.) to inform the site readership of these new allegations and the fact that Jonathan has admitted to creating a false identity for the purpose of protecting his familly.
2.) to preserve the original story on the web for both those who support the case and those who do not.
3.) to provide a forum for those individuals who have helped Jonathan in the past. I will post any messages from them here should they decide to make any comments.
4.) to offer Jonathan a forum to present his side of these serious matters in a supportive framework. Jonathan has told members of the investigative team that he will, in fact, come forward with an account of the case within the context of his true identity. When such testimony is available to me, I will post it here for everyone's review.
Jonathan has apologized to me and to the other members of the investigative team for deceiving us in this matter. He realizes that this was a serious breach of trust to those of who put faith in his case and he says, in retrospect, that he made a serious error in judgment.
I have been in touch with Dan Iaria who is the primary investigator of Joanthan's case. He urges that we all be patient while he sorts out the new information with Jonathan and with other people involved in the case. He plans to re-open the Alien Destiny site when he is satisfied that he has collected all of the facts.
I fervently hope that the the passage of time reveals the truth of this encounter and the ET phenomena itself.

The excuse being offered by Rutter
(pictured left, Feb-1994)) is a lie, the exact same lie that UFOWATCHDOG.COM
wrote about - you can read
about it here under 'EXCUSES'. Rutter's explanation of wanting to "protect"
his friends and family is absurd considering that these are the same people
that exposed him as a fraud to begin with.
Rutter's excuse of using a false identity makes no sense at all considering he sent these so-called UFO investigators on a wild goose chase looking for information to substantiate his tall tale using the name of "Jonathan Reed." Why would someone send these people, people who spent their time and money on investigating this man, why would anyone send them down a one-way street only to get hit by a car going the other way?
These so-called investigators claim that they met over 30 people that knew who "Dr.Jonathan Reed" was - these people were alleged to be former co-workers, professors, students, friends, family. Iaria claims that he and McEvoy spent nearly two years investigating this case and interviewing people. They even claimed security guards at a facility approached Rutter and asked him to leave, but they called him "Dr.Reed." Dan Iaria, who claims his investigation uncovered "irrefutable evidence", stated he was with "Dr.Reed" at restaurants where people recognized him. The problem is that these restaurants, including 13-Coins, are regular spots where Rutter has been dining at for years.
The bigger problem here is why is it that Rutter now needs so much time to come forward with the truth? What is there for Dan Iaria to "sort out"? If Rutter was telling the truth about this case, which we know he isn't, then he would have immediately explained himself and would not have needed so much time to do so? Another simple answer - stall as long as you can and hope you can come up with a better story. But I don't think anyone is going to be interested in hearing, much less buying, more lies from a liar...
