In the latest episode from the badly scripted UFO soap opera that is the Jonathan Reed Hoax, fanatical Reed supporter Dan Iaria is now claiming to have - here we go again - "irrefutable proof" of Reed's bogus encounter with an alien. The so-called proof comes from an alleged witness supporting the story of Harold Chacon, one of many poorly scripted players in this low grade theatrical alien tale.

Iaria claims that an interview conducted via phone by Daniel Munoz, an assistant to Jaime Maussan, proves that Chacon has a degree in biology from a university in Puerto Rico. The interview is alleged to have been conducted with a director of a program that Chacon was involved with at Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico. A short segment of the interview is posted at Iaria's website where you can see Munoz hunched over a phone and holding what are supposed to be official documents verifying Chacon's credentials. The 'interview' as posted on Iaria's website:

DIRECTOR: Well, Harold was working with us in the summer program here...We are the Pontifical Catholic University, and that is a federal program. This is an annual program. Harold worked among us during a summer...actually several summers as coordinator and his responsibility was to attend to the residents and the students. He also had as part of his supervision a Tutorial Program and the supervision of the other student supervisors. He also taught a Biology class and was the Biology Tutor for students with that ability.

Meanwhile, while staying here, he was a very kind and mature person. The biggest interest for the students was that he was a person you could speak to and trust. He was so trustworthy that we entrusted him with the responsibility of all the resident students here on the Campus. He was the Supervisor of all these things...

MUNOZ: Regarding the Biology field it seems that his proficiency is very good, isn't it?

DIRECTOR: Yes, he was...when he worked with us he was also for us a Biology Tutor. He had a small class of that for the students. His results were very good in that field. In fact, he was a person whom his fellow workers could approach to ask about this field to, because he was very good with regard to that kind of field. I'm certainly not the best person to talk to about those recommendations for him on that field that you mentioned. Here in the University, the Biology Department is the best because that is where he studied...or also the Science Department if he mentioned that in his file... [END]

What's most amazing here is that Iaria has the nerve to call this 'irrefutable evidence' when it is anything but that. The name of the director is not provided and the entire phone call could easily have been staged. All that is provided is a video of a conversation and we are left with nothing reliable except the word of Munoz and Iaria. As we have seen in the past, the word of the Reed camp is anything but trustworthy as they have lied about a number of issues. Aside from the lack of any hard evidence, numerous inconsistencies, obvious lies and outright fraud, none of the witnesses are named, their faces (including Chacon's) are never shown and we have no idea who these people really are. Iaria and his crew want people to believe this case is real, but that is difficult when you can't present any witnesses for independent verification. Iaria claims that there are many witnesses supporting Reed's tale, yet all we are left with are nameless, faceless people that could be anybody.

Chacon first appeared on Coast To Coast AM with Art Bell and was introduced as Dr. Harold Chacon. Alleging to be a degreed microbiologist from Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico currently studying and working in the United States, Chacon also claimed to have performed an analysis on blood and tissue samples collected from Reed's bogus alien. All throughout this program, Chacon responded when he was addressed as 'Dr.Chacon' and he claimed that DNA results from the samples allegedly provided by Reed showed to have nine non-human chromosomes. Iaria stated on his website:

After Chacon's appearance on Coast To Coast AM with Art Bell, Iaria alleged that Chacon was assaulted by government thugs and forced to leave the country. On his website, Iaria posted:

While the Reed camp was hyping the drama surrounding their tall tale, it was discovered that Harold Chacon was anything but in hiding and fearful for his life. Chacon was found to be employed as a clerk working at a Chevron gas station in West Seattle. Robert Raith (real name Robert Aria) was also found to be a clerk at the very same gas station. Aria was a long term employee at the station and Chacon is reported to have been working there since May 1997. When a few Seattle locals that had been following the Reed story discovered the truth, they decided to confront Robert Aria. When the people approached the gas station, Aria was reported to have fled out the back door in order to avoid being discovered. I also have verified that Chacon and Aria both were employed at this gas station and that Aria is no longer working there. When a co-worker was asked about Aria's employment at the gas station in July 2001, the co-worker said Aria had quit his job. When asked why he quit the co-worker stated, "He's traveling and getting rich. At least that's what he told me." When asked about Harold Chacon the co-worker stated Chacon was on vacation visiting his family in Puerto Rico and he was still working at the gas station.

Iaria and others in the Reed camp have claimed that all involved are in constant danger. If this is the case, then why are they so easy to track down, especially when Iaria claimed that Chacon had fled the country? Finding Chacon was no problem at all and he is still employed at the gas station in West Seattle. Chacon was recently contacted by UFOWATCHDOG.COM. When asked if he would comment on the Reed Hoax, Chacon stated, "I don't think so."

After discovering the truth about Chacon, inquiries were made into Chacon's alleged education. It was found that he was not a doctor, even though he had been introduced as Dr.Harold Chacon and was referred to as such on Coast To Coast AM. After Chacon was exposed as a fraud, Iaria immediately began doing damage control by stating,

This is a lie, and a bald face one at that. Below you'll find a transcript from the 09-DEC-99 Coast To Coast AM radio program. During this segment, Art Bell is reading a letter he received from Robert Aria in which Aria talks about further developments of Reed's tale. References addressing Chacon as 'doctor' are highlighted:

ART BELL [reading a letter over the air sent to him by Robert Raith - aka Robert Aria]: "...he [Raith] goes on: A surprise guest, unparalled exclusive on your show, Dr. Reed is willing to introduce you and your audience to Dr. Harold Chacon a degreed microbiologist graduating with honors from Catholic University of Puerto Rico with a B.S. Masters program certificate in the field of microbiology, biomedical research and cell immunology, biochemistry and zoology, currently studying and residing here in the U.S. Mr. Chacon, with help from his university, has analyzed and documented in detail organic tissue and blood samples taken from the alien creature that Jonathan and his friend Gary were able to hide away and preserve. Mr. Chacon's findings are ready to be released to the public and to the world on your show..."

[Bell talks to Reed and Aria the program continues]

BELL: ."...and so with us now is Harold Chacon, Dr. Chacon are you there?

CHACON: "Yes, I'm here."

BELL: "OK, I guess at some point, and you can tell me when, Dr. Reed and Robert supplied you with tissue samples and what we call blood from this alien creature that they had, is that correct?

CHACON: "Yes, that is correct, yeah, they communicate and they supplied me with samples and I first I heard about them about Dr. Reed the last time they were on your show actually.

BELL: "Lets back up a little bit and talk a little about yourself, where you studied, even though I read that and what your qualifications are to be doing this?

CHACON: "Yes I am ...a scientist, I studied science from a university, I graduate and I am currently you know in a program for a doctoral degree in sciences in the field of science. And I but that is not from the University that I graduate that was here in the United States.

BELL: "Alright. When did you receive the samples Doctor?

CHACON: "The samples were given to me about June 1999."

BELL: "In June of '99 and you received exactly what? Tissue and blood"?

CHACON: "Ok, there was actually three samples. Tissue samples in vials and there was one fluid that in the beginning we couldn't say exactly what it was at that moment but after starting, yeah, we were realize that yeah, we were working with blood.

BELL: "So in other words you heard the original broadcast..so you knew the story.

CHACON: "Yeah, yeah through the website, yeah.

BELL: And so then you were contacted independently by...?

CHACON: "I contacted them."

BELL: "You, oh, you contacted them?"

CHACON: "I contacted them, yes."

BELL: "I see!"

ROBERT RAITH: "Mr. Chacon e-mailed us and in about April, and was interested in doing this and it was a process, I spent some time communicating with him, we talked via e-mail for a while, I checked out his credentials, we then talked on the phone and then finally I met with him personally after all security measures had been met. We talked again in great detail about this case and later, that's when Dr. Jonathan Reed and myself met him personally together.

BELL: "So you met and it was at that first meeting you gave him the samples?

JONATHAN REED and RAITH: "No, it was later on"

REED: I think it should also be mentioned Art that I think Mr. Chacon was extremely skeptical at the onset.

BELL: Well, you know Dr. Reed, there are many skeptical of this story, you know that of course.,

REED: Absolutely, and that should be the way it is.

BELL: Alright. Well then, lets proceed through matters as we should. Mr. Chacon, what can you tell us about the analysis of the I don't know what you want to call it? Skin? Tissue samples, what you called the blood what have you found?

[Chacon talks about his alleged analysis of Reed's bogus alien samples. It should be noted that Chacon is introduced as, referred to and responds to Dr.Chacon throughout this program.]

BELL: "It is indeed, my guest Dr. Jonathan Reed, Robert Raith and Dr. Harold Chacon a Microbiologist. And once again, so that you know, reading from what was sent to me, Dr. Chacon is a degreed Microbiologist graduating with honors from Catholic University of Puerto Rico with a B.S. Masters program certificate in the field of Microbiology, biomedical research and cell immunology, biochemistry and zoology, currently studying and residing here in the U.S."

Here you clearly have people referring to Chacon as 'Doctor', Chacon responds to being called 'Doctor' and you have Robert Aria clearly introducing Chacon as 'Doctor' in his letter. Iaria's claim that no one ever inferred or called Chacon a doctor is completely false and easily refuted by their own words. Referring to Chacon as a doctor during the program was intended to mislead listeners of the program. Another note further proving the fraud in this case is a statement made by Robert Raith/Aria. He claims to have never met Chacon until they began communicating about the alleged biological alien samples. Again, another outright lie.

RAITH/ARIA: "Mr. Chacon e-mailed us and in about April, and was interested in doing this and it was a process . Iaria continues to attempt to repair the wrecked credibility of Harold Chacon by posting documents alleged to show Chacon has a degree in biology. Iaria has also posted a reference letter alleged to be from the Director that Munoz claims to have interviewed. The letter includes two phone numbers on the letter head, one is a number for the program and the other is a fax number.

Upon calling the number for the director, all that was received was a busy signal after numerous attempts to call (even in the early morning hours.) The second phone number was for a residence and was in no way connected to a university of any kind.

Iaria claims that he confirmed Chacon's educational background with a phone call. Iaria states, "One simple phone call to PCUPR would have revealed this information to anyone who had bothered to call and check for themselves." It has been reported that one cannot simply obtain educational records of any kind from Puerto Rico without having written consent from the person being inquired about. So much for a "simple phone call."

One has to wonder how anyone could be fooled by this blatant hoax. One also has to wonder how any UFO conference could host these frauds. Yes, Reed and his clowns are still making appearances at conferences. They're scheduled to appear in Oroville, California in February and have also been added to the list at the International UFO Congress for this March, their third con job appearance three years running. I would suggest that people boycott any conference that is willing to support these hucksters in any way. I would also suggest that people not support Reed or his co-horts by purchasing books and videos or any other products they may offer for sale. Why would any UFO conference give these con artists serious consideration of any kind is a mystery of its own...Oh, wait, I know why...

UFOWATCHDOG.COM has been in contact with someone that may expose this entire hoax if s/he chooses to come forward. This person claims to have intimate knowledge of the hoax and its perpetration. After talking at length with this person and following up leads that have been provided, I am highly confident that this person is indeed credible. While UFOWATCHDOG.COM wants to do what it can to bring all information available to the public and avoid repeating the dubious witness practices employed by the Reed camp, UFOWATCHDOG.COM also has a policy of protecting confidential and reliable sources and will not at any time expose a source unless it is involved in perpetrating a hoax. This person has granted permission for the following to be made public.

UFOWATCHDOG.COM: Tell me more about these rehearsals you were talking about earlier.

"PAT": They worked on this gig for almost a year. They scripted the whole thing, did rehearsals, planned shooting it, it was like a movie production or something. They all talked about getting a movie made. They were really serious about making sure it was as convincing as they could get it. I mean, they were also pretty scared about anyone else finding out what they were doing. Bobby really freaked out when some people he knew recognized him tried to talk to him. I mean, he was really freaked about it.

UFOWATCHDOG.COM: Do you mean at the Admiral Way Chevron?

"PAT": Yeah. I mean, you do know that Harold works there too, right?

UFOWATCHDOG.COM: A lot of people know that both of them work there. At least, Harold still does. How do you think they would feel if they knew you were talking to me about this?

"PAT": It'd cause problems if they find out I'm talking to you. I'm to the point where this has gone way too far and I don't care anymore. This is just an experience people have to go through. I'm just sorry to see that it went so far.

UFOWATCHDOG.COM: Why didn't you come forward and expose them earlier when this whole thing started?

Hopefully, there will be more to come...you just never know when the truth will pop up. Isn't that right Reed?
